ARLINGTON, Va. - A person is hospitalized after being struck by a train at Crystal City on Thursday night.
According to Arlington County Fire, crews responded to the Crystal City Metro station around 8:25 p.m. and found the person underneath a train, conscious and alert.
Crews began quickly began rescue operations, and they were able to extricate the person just before 9 p.m.

The patient was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
"Rescue operations like the one our crews faced on March 9 can be extremely challenging," said Arlington County Fire Chief David Povlitz. "I am extremely proud of our responders and WMATA safety partners for their ability to perform such a technical operation safely, proficiently, and quickly."
Train service on the Blue Line was suspended between National Airport and Pentagon City Thursday night due to incident. It later was restored around 10:30 p.m.
Authorities have not indicated what led up to the person being struck by the train.
