Pay It Forward: Humane Rescue Alliance dedicated to helping pets find forever homes

April 30 is National Shelter Pet Day, and there's no better time to celebrate the efforts of one local organization that is dedicated to caring for our four-legged friends every day of the year.

The Washington Humane Society and the Washington Animal Rescue League joined forces to create the Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA), helping more than 60,000 area animals each year. Their mission: to help animals find forever homes, and right now, there are about 350 animals waiting to be adopted.

HRA also provides all of the city's animal welfare services under one roof, including low-cost veterinary services, animal care and control, and behavior training. None of it is possible, though, without support from the community--and donations play a big part in HRA's success.

Our Pay It Forward partner, Easterns Automotive Group, was happy to step up and lend a hand for National Shelter Pet Day. They made a $3,000 donation to cover the cost of all pet adoptions on Tuesday, May 1! The rest of the money donated by Easterns will go to HRA's vet care fund, which helps pay for the care animals need after they find their forever homes.

Thanks to Easterns Automotive Group, Tuesday, May 1 will be a great day to adopt! If you'd like to bring home pet from HRA, visit one of their adoption centers:
