Pay It Forward: Del Ray Business Association offers free Halloween costumes to those in-need

In just a few short days children will run through the streets as goblins, ghouls, and Fort Nite characters fueled by sugar. Part of the Halloween fun, for the kids, are the costumes.

But for some cash-strapped parents, buying the latest kids' costumes can be costly. Neighbors in the Del Ray area of Alexandria are working to change that.

For the past 13 years, the Del Ray Business Association has worked to collect costumes and distribute them to every family who needs them. The collection is set up now through Oct. 26 at the Pat Miller Neighborhood Square at the corner of Mount Vernon and Oxford Avenues.

That’s also where families can pick up costumes just in time for the 23rd Annual Del Ray Halloween Parade.

This morning Stacy Biddinger and Gayle Reuter, both volunteers of the association talked about the difference the costumes make in the children’s lives.
Easterns Automotive Group and the FOX 5 Pay It Forward crew were happy to recognize their work in making a difference. The organization had several dozen costumes on an Amazon Wish list they were requesting for the public’s help in getting those costumes for the kids.

On Tuesday, Joel Bassam from Easterns Automotive Group dropped by Good Day DC to surprise the women by buying all of the requested costumes on their wish list.
