SPRINGFIELD, Va. - Police are investigating after human remains were found in the backyard of Fairfax County home.
Investigators say they were called the 5900 block of Brunswick Drive in Springfield around noon on Saturday, after officers found a partially decomposed human foot.
Police say it is unclear the race or gender of the found body part. Officers and detectives canvassed the area to see if there was any recent suspicious activity.
Police say they searched neighboring homes and found additional bones in a nearby backyard, but they appear to be from an animal and are likely unrelated.
Police say investigators continue their search of the area for additional information and evidence.
