HERNDON, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - Doug Stevens, 25, says it’s a birthday he’ll always remember. The volunteer Fairfax County firefighter helped keep a suspect in place during an encounter after a police-involved shooting in Herndon.
The suspect was reportedly involved in the shooting near Jimmy’s Old Town Tavern. The officer involved was reportedly responding to a robbery. No one was struck in the shooting.
For Stevens, it was an atypical after-work encounter. He’s been a paramedic for two years and never experienced anything like this.
“I’m not sure if I would be the person to be a police officer long term. It’s a very special breed of man who can do that. I enjoy being a paramedic and I’m hoping to continue on my medical path... so it’s been really nice to see those guys in action,” said Stevens.
