Officials: Bear that attacked woman in Frederick shot and killed

FREDERICK, Md. - A bear that attacked a woman in Frederick, Maryland has been shot and killed.

A spokesman with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources said that officers located the bear Thursday morning in the Frederick area. They fired two shots which struck and killed the animal.

The attack happened around 9:21 p.m. on Irongate Lane on Wednesday. The victim, a woman, is being treated for puncture wounds at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.
