Man charged with murder after towing dispute in College Park

A Northwest D.C. man is facing a murder charge in connection with the death of a tow-truck company employee in College Park on Sunday.

A Northwest D.C. man is facing a murder charge in connection with the death of a tow-truck company employee in College Park on Sunday.

According to police, they were responding to an incident at a towing company on College Avenue when they encountered 24-year-old Damian Howard choking 41-year-old Tarreak Butler, who was unconscious.

They say the officers tried to revive Butler using CPR, but he was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe Howard attacked Butler over a towing fee.

Howard was charged with second-degree murder and assault, along with related charges.

He is in custody without bond.
