DC Police investigate officer-involved shooting that left one person dead
D.C. Police give updates on an officer-involved shooting in Northwest that left a woman dressed as a special police officer dead.
WASHINGTON - One person is dead, and another is hurt, after a police-involved shooting in Northwest D.C. Saturday morning, according to authorities.
Police said just before 6:00 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a shooting in the 800 block of Crittenden Street, Northwest. After arriving at the scene, officers found a woman who had been shot in the arm and began rendering first aid. Police expect the woman to recover.
Police also found a woman wearing a special police officer's uniform at the scene, who was in possession of a semi-automatic gun and acting erratically. Police said the woman's uniform had a name listed on it that did not match hers. Investigators later confirmed that the uniformed woman – identified as Erica Graham, 42 – was not a registered special police officer in D.C.
D.C. Police Chief Robert Contee said officers at the scene reported that Graham was on the front porch of a residence smashing windows. Contee added that the residence belongs to a person unrelated to the incident, and they are not sure why Graham was in front of the house.

Police investigate after woman in special officer uniform was shot and killed by MPD officers
FOX 5's Perris Jones reports that an investigation is underway after a woman in a special officer uniform was shot and killed by MPD officers in Northwest D.C. Saturday.
MPD investigators say Graham then pointed her gun at officers, who ordered her to the ground. Police say she failed to comply and one of the MPD officers shot her. Officers rendered first aid after the shooting, but their efforts were unsuccessful, and Graham was pronounced dead. Chief Contee said police are not sure how many times the Graham was shot.
Investigators later determined that Graham was the person who shot the first woman they found at the scene. Police did not make it clear what that shooting stemmed from, but Chief Contee said the two women lived in the same block and may have been familiar with each other.
The officers involved in the incident were not hurt. The officer who fired their gun has been placed on administrative leave per MPD policy. Police said body worn camera footage of the incident is currently under review.
Police also recovered a gun at the scene, but they have not said who the gun belonged to.
FOX 5 spoke with family members of the uniformed woman, who say the entire family is devastated by what happened. They also tell FOX 5 that Graham had mental health needs and didn't deserve to die.
