Those who enjoy the water are in luck, especially as temperatures reach an all-time high of 100 this weekend.

The 'No Swimming' advisory issued for Ramsey Creek Beach has been lifted and the beach is expected to reopen Sunday, July 24, at 10 a.m., according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services.

The beach closed down on Friday after high levels of fecal bacteria were found in the water, Mecklenburg Co. Park and Recreation says.

The advisory was issued after water sampling results showed elevated fecal coliform levels at 450 col/100ML, which is above the acceptable tolerance of 200 col/100mL, according to parks and recreation.

Park and recreation do not know the exact cause but say they believe the combination of multiple thunderstorms and high temperatures this week is the likely culprit.

Staff with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services sampled the water quality several times Friday, and the highest measure was 5 col/100mL, which indicates good water quality.
