No sledding at the US Capitol Monday. Here’s why.

Kids in Washington, D.C. won’t be able to go sledding Monday on the U.S. Capitol grounds due to the extra security precautions in place for the certification of election results, according to FOX News.

Can you sled on the U.S. Capital grounds on Monday?

The House and Senate are expected to meet during the winter storm to certify President-elect Donald Trump’s election.

Typically, sections of the U.S. Capitol Grounds will be open for community sledding during daylight hours when it snows in the District.

But this year, a high-security presence has enveloped the nation’s capital as officials prepare for the election certification, funeral observances for former President Jimmy Carter, and the inauguration in the coming weeks.

The security presence was compounded by heightened concerns following recent vehicle attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas.
