WASHINGTON - A motorcyclist died in a crash on the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge Monday morning.
D.C. police said 50-year-old James Greene, of Catlett, Va., lost control of his 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle as he was traveling inbound towards Washington D.C. Greene collided with a bridge railing separating him from his motorcycle and ended up hitting his head on the roadway.
He was transported to George Washington University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Traffic on the west side of the bridge was diverted onto Route 110 and traffic on the east side of the bridge was diverted to Route 50 for several hours following the accident. All lanes were opened to traffic around 9 a.m.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
