DUMFRIES, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - Police arrested a mother after they say cocaine was found next to her 5-month-old baby daughter while the infant was lying in her crib.
Officers say the incident happened on December 18 at a house in the 17200 block of Wexford Loop in Dumfries.
Officers executed a search warrant at the house and say they found cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia inside. Investigators say they also found a bag containing cocaine in a crib next to where a 5-month-old girl was lying.
The mother, identified as 34-year-old Aisha Tierra Sherman, was arrested and faces child neglect and narcotic possession charges. Police say a second female inside the house was arrested on unrelated charges.
