Montgomery Village community on edge after double shooting

A Montgomery County neighborhood is on edge after a double shooting broke out in the middle of the day. One man is dead, another person is in critical condition. FOX 5's Shomari Stone has an exclusive interview and the story.

The Montgomery County Police Department is currently investigating a Friday afternoon shooting that took place at an apartment complex in Montgomery Village.

Around 1:10 p.m., officers arrived at the scene of the shooting at the Cider Mill Apartments in the 18300 block of Lost Knife Circle.

According to police, at least one person is in critical condition and another has been pronounced dead. Police have identified the deceased victim as a 22-year-old Alan Garnica of Gaithersburg. Despite lifesaving efforts, Garnica was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second suspect, who remains in critical condition, has been identified as an 18-year-old male.

Officers located the 18-year-old man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

There is no suspect in custody and this is an active and ongoing investigation.

FOX 5 spoke to a community member who described hearing 10 gunshots. One neighbor said they heard at least three.

Double shooting in Gaithersburg leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

A double shooting has left one person dead, and another in the hospital after shots rang out in a Montgomery Village neighborhood Friday. FOX 5’s Stephanie Ramirez reports from the scene of the crime.

Police say this shooting is being investigated as a homicide. They're asking people who live in the community to check their Ring or Nest cameras to see if they notice the suspects or any suspicious activity.
