ALEXANDRIA, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - A military mom coming home from deployment gave her son the surprise of his life at his school in Fairfax County during the school's Military Child Appreciation assembly.
Shadia Everett is stationed in Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, Africa for a 12-month tour. She just returned home after seven months for a one-week visit and surprised her son James who attends Riverside Elementary School in Alexandria, Virginia.
The school was honoring the children whose parents service in the military.
After the children were honored with a set of dog tags, Shadia walked in. James ran to greet her and jumped into her arms giving her a gigantic bear hug!
"Today is the best day of my life!" James said through the tears.
