MGM National Harbor employee critically injured after being struck by hit-and-run driver
OXON HILL, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - A man was critically injured at MGM National Harbor when he attempted to cross a busy road Monday night and was struck by a driver who left the scene.
When officers first arrived at Monument Avenue at Ridgecrest Road, they found a 27-year-old man severely injured in the roadway who was in and out of consciousness.
There were no cars around at the time of the incident, and no witnesses.
As paramedics rushed the man to a nearby hospital, investigators started working the scene.
Once police had access to the footage from a nearby camera they could see what happened.
A sedan coming off Ridgecrest struck the man as he attempted to cross the road. The driver of the sedan slowed down and then sped up down the hill toward the entrance to the Beltway.
At this time, the video is not good enough to provide investigators with a color or make or model of the vehicle.
The 27-year-old victim, who MGM confirmed is an employee at the casino, is currently in intensive care.
