ARLINGTON, Va. - There were reports of a fire on the tracks inside the Pentagon City Metro station, and WMATA reported delays for both Yellow and Blue Line passengers due to "unscheduled track repairs" at the station earlier Monday morning.
Photos tweeted by passengers showed flames on the tracks inside what is reportedly the Pentagon City station.
In a series of tweets, Metro said train service had stopped between Washington Reagan National Airport and Pentagon due to "unscheduled track repairs" at Pentagon City. Metro tweeted that both the Crystal City and Pentagon City stations were closed, but just before 10:15 a.m., they tweeted that regular service was resuming. Residual delays were expected.
The Pentagon City and Crystal City stations were closed while the unscheduled repairs were made. There's no official word from Metro about the reported track fire, or what might have caused it.
