Memorial held for murdered go-go music legend Rory Felton
WASHINGTON - Family and friends gathered Wednesday evening to remember a go-go music legend who was murdered in the District.
Rory Felton's wife Penny hosted the celebration on Xenia Street in Southeast D.C. for what would've been the music pioneer's 58th birthday.
Felton was found stabbed to death in an apartment on Friday at about 2 a.m. Felton was an original member of the band Rare Essence, a pioneering go-go band that formed in the District in 1976 and produced numerous hits.
The investigation into Felton's death continues and authorities urged anyone with information to call 202-645-9600. A $25,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
