The initial closing time allows approximately 30 minutes prior to the lead hand cyclists starting the MCM precisely at 7:45 a.m.

The second closure time reflects the last "official" runner after crossing the starting line no later than 8:25 a.m. while maintaining a 14 minute-per-mile pace until mile 20 at Beat the Bridge, which is the 14th Street Bridge.

Straggler buses will follow "Rear Pace" (14 minute-per-mile pace vehicle) and runners will be strongly encouraged to board or become pedestrians departing the certified course. The MCM course officially closes at 3:15 p.m., approximately seven hours after the Marine Corps Marathon begins.

METRO:

Metrorail:

-Metrorail to open at 5 a.m. on Sunday, October 25, for the Marine Corps Marathon.

-The closest Metro stop to the start of the race is Pentagon on the Blue and Yellow lines, however riders may want to consider using Pentagon City as an alternate station due to potential crowding at Pentagon.

-Arlington Cemetery will not open until 8:30 a.m., after the marathon is underway. The station should only be used to access to finish area or to leave the event after the race.

-To accommodate high ridership, Metro will operate additional Blue Line trains between Franconia-Springfield and Stadium-Armory between 5 a.m. and 8:15 a.m., and between 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

-Metro recommends using a SmarTrip card to speed your trip. If using a paper farecard, a $1 per-trip surcharge applies. Be sure to load enough fare value on your SmarTrip or paper farecard for your entire roundtrip to avoid lines after the event.
