Manassas hit-and-run suspect allegedly seized victim's phone so he couldn't call for help: cops

A Manassas woman accused in connection with a deadly hit-and-run allegedly also grabbed the victim's cell phone and threw it away, denying him a chance to call for help, police say.

A Manassas woman who allegedly struck and killed a 74-year-old during a hit-and-run Monday night stopped her car to take the victim’s phone and throw it away, preventing him from calling emergency services, police say.

After the encounter, she drove off, leaving Jose Pastor Manzares alone in the street, according to police.

Manzares died after being taken to a local hospital.

Prince William County police initially charged 23-year-old Keiry Beatriz Alvarez Contreras with felony hit and run, and driving without a license.
