TAKOMA PARK, Md. - A Takoma Park man is in custody after he fled when his family tried to have him hospitalized for mental health issues.
The man was being taken to the Washington Adventist Hospital by family members when he left and locked himself in one of their vehicle. The man then allegedly drove the vehicle over the foot a an officer who was responding.
The man also allegedly struck a parked vehicle as he drove back to his home.
Once at the house, officials say he was injured in a fall and was hospitalized.
The man's name has not been released. It is unclear what charges, if any, he will face.
