WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - The D.C. Office of the Attorney General has filed charges against the man they say was driving a D.C. councilmember's vehicle during a hit-and-run crash.
FOX 5'S Evan Lambert reports that officials have charged 28-year-old Sergio R. Hill with leaving after colliding, property damage and no permit in connection with the alleged hit-and-run crash involving Councilmember Trayon White's (D-Ward) vehicle.
The incident allegedly happened on March 18 in the District along I-295 near the Malcolm X Avenue exit in Southeast Washington. Police believed a vehicle belonging to White rear-ended another vehicle and left before providing necessary documentation.
In a court affidavit, police say Hill told the driver of the other vehicle he was "Sergio Vererta" and gave the driver two non-working phone numbers before leaving the scene.
White released a statement Wednesday morning saying that a friend was driving his vehicle without his consent and was involved in a minor fender bender.
Hill has been charged with leaving after colliding and driving without a permit.
