FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. - The suspect in a series of peeping Tom incidents in Fairfax County has been arrested, police say.
Jose Ramirez, 49, has been linked to eight peeping cases that took place in the same Idylwood neighborhood between April and December 2024.
The first report came in on April 9. The victim told police that she saw a man peeping through her window and detectives from the Sex Crimes Unit began to investigate.
Through their investigation, detectives determined that the suspect was linked to seven additional cases.
On Dec. 26, detectives received a significant breakthrough when a tipster called CrimeStoppers with critical information that helped detectives identify the suspect as Ramirez.
"Peeping is a serious crime, and in our day and age, especially in our experience, we have seen that peepings lead to more serious crimes, or can lead to sexual assaults, assaults in nature," said FCPD Capt. Kent Bailey. "So, we were very fortunate to receive this tip from the community as well as the outstanding work of our detectives to identify this suspect and arrest him immediately."
On January 8, Ramirez was arrested and charged with five counts of peeping into an occupied dwelling.
He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and has since been released.
