LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Walt Disney World Resort will soon be ending the The Main Street Electrical Parade, the Magic Kingdom's long-running nighttime parade.
According to the Disney Parks Blog, the parade will officially end its historic run in Florida on October 9 and then head to Disneyland Resort -- where it debuted in 1972 -- for a limited-time encore engagement.
The parade, filled with glowing, spinning floats that honor favorite Disney characters, has had three runs at Walt Disney World over the past four decades. This current parade has been running since 2010.
Animated Disney films are represented in the nighttime procession, which include "Alice In Wonderland," "Cinderella" and more. During the parade, Tinker Bell lights the way with a wave of her wand and orchestrates half a million shimmering lights synchronized to a memorable soundtrack.
