LOS ANGELES - Cheerleaders have been a common sight on NFL sidelines for decades, but this year when the Los Angeles Rams tweeted their announcement of the 2018 Rams cheerleading squad, something was a little different.
In 2018, the Rams cheerleaders will be the first NFL cheerleading squad in history to include male cheerleaders: Napoleon Jinnies and Quinton Peron.
The two have gotten a ton of attention since the announcement, including an appearance on Good Morning America. Jinnies and Peron are both classically-trained dancers, and went through a rigorous, weeks-long audition process along with all the other cheerleaders.
Jinnies tweeted out his disbelief when he made the team.
"Still can't believe I'm one of the first males in history to be a pro NFL cheerleader," he wrote. "Everyone's support and love has been insane! Thank you and GO RAMS!"
