Local student wins DC's ‘Doodle 4 Google' contest
WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - Three local students are vying for the chance to have their art featured on the Google homepage for hundreds of millions of people to see.
Every year, Google holds a "Doodle 4 Google" competition -- it encourages students to put their own creative spin on the Google logo.
This year's local finalists have been chosen and they include Skylar Ogunshakin, Maggie Slaughter and Ashley Green.
Skylar, a 7th grader from School Without Walls in D.C., is the DC Winner with her doodle, "Skylar's World, Blue Skies and Sunshine!"
Maggie, a 9th grader from Northwest High School in Germantown, is the Maryland State Winner with her doodle, "A New Reality."
Ashley Green, a 4th grader from Pinebrook Elementary School in Aldie, is the Virginia State Winner with her doodle, "Lost in Space."
FOX 5's Shawn Yancy spoke with Skylar Thursday to talk about her doodle in the video player above.
