Fairmount Heights transgender murder victim identified by family, friend
FAIRMOUNT HEIGHTS, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - The investigation into the murder of a transgender woman whose body was found in the area of Aspen and Jost streets in Fairmount Heights has been transferred over to the Prince George's County police department.
Although police have declined to identify the victim, her family and her friend confirmed her name as Ashanti Carmon.
Police were responding to multiple reports of gunfire around 6:23 a.m. in the area of Aspen and Jost streets when they found the body.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Prince George's County police say they will release additional details on Monday.
