Listen to the thundersnow! Loud winter thunderclap startles puppy in Hagerstown
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - Have you ever heard the sound of thundersnow?
This pup sure did! Jean Burkett took this video of her dog Sauvi as thundersnow rolled through Hagerstown, Maryland Wednesday. The rumble startled Sauvi who jumped and darted away.
Thundersnow is a weather phenomenon that can best be described as a winter thunderstorm with snow, said FOX 5's Mike Thomas. He said that thundersnow also shows that warm air is mixed in to the upper levels of the atmosphere.
Thomas say the snow will continue to fall into the early afternoon hours and will change over to a freezing rain / mix by 1 p.m. and then to rain by 4 p.m.
We have lots of reports of THUNDERSNOW off to the far northwest of DC.
