Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund employee charged with distributing child porn, officials say

WASHINGTON - A man working for the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund has been arrested and charged with distributing child pornography, according to officials.

Andrew Phillips, who lists his occupation as the media director for the non-profit, was taken into custody at his Alexandria office by the FBI on Tuesday.

The non-profit lists its mission statement as "publicizing the many dangers and challenges faced by law enforcement…as well as providing defense funds for officers who have been wrongly accused."

According to court documents filed in the case, Phillips began a conversation with an undercover officer on the Kik app, introducing himself by saying, "Hey, I saw one of your fetlife posts about being a taboo single dad. So am I. Want to chat with a sissy daddy? I'm also in DC BTW."

The undercover officer responded, "Nice to meet you."

The court documents state that after discussing what kind of child pornography they both liked, Phillips described his sexual interest in children by saying, "I'm very, very into it."

An analyst with the FBI identified a Facebook profile page belonging to Phillips and the page featured a picture of him dressed as a woman, which is the same photo officials said Phillips sent to the undercover officer.

Phillips made his first court appearance federal courthouse Tuesday afternoon and was ordered to be held without bond. He was due back in court on Friday.
