Lanterns ready ahead of last Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk

FOX 5's Bob Barnard was part of some special deliveries Friday morning to kids who are battling cancer! He stopped by for the surprise visits ahead of the final Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's National Capital Area Light the Night Walk.

His first visit was to 13-year-old Lance Bigelow. Lance was diagnosed with Acute Myleoid Leukemia (AML ) when he was just 2-years-old. He fought a tough battle against the disease and in November, he will have been cancer-free for 11 years. He goes to St. Ambrose School and wants to be an engineer and video game designer when he grows up. Bob deliver a white survivor's lantern to Lance.

Bob's next stop was to Alexandria where he met 12-year-old Jack Creedon. Jack was diagnosed with very high risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) last year. His cancer is very resistant to treatment, and after he was unable to secure a bone marrow transplant, his family pressed forward with a stem cell/cord blood transplant. That procedure was scheduled for this month but another setback - a bacterial infection - delayed them again.

Jack loves nature, animals, reading and dinosaurs and has helped raise money for LLS.

The final LLS Light the Night Walk is scheduled for:

Saturday, October 15 | Freedom Plaza | 1455 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW | Washington, DC 20004
