A judge identified the young girl shot and killed by a woman Sunday in a Tysons Corner apartment as the alleged killer's daughter.

FOX 5's Bob Barnard said 33-year-old Veronica Youngblood, the woman accused of murdering the young girl and injuring another in the shooting over the weekend, appeared in a Fairfax County courtroom Tuesday morning.

Barnard said the judge identified the girl killed as Youngblood's daughter, Brooklynn. The Medical Examiner said Brooklynn died from a gunshot to the head. Barnard said that Youngblood spoke in a quiet voice and said that she did not want a lawyer. He said the judge appointed the Public Defender's office to represent her.

The shooting happened around 10:15 p.m. Sunday in the 1500 block of Lincoln Circle in Fairfax County.

Youngblood was arrested about an hour later in Loudoun County after an acquaintance called police when she knocked on their front door. Police say a firearm was recovered when she was arrested.

Youngblood has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting. She is being held without bond.

FOX 5 has learned that a protective order by her ex-husband was issued in 2016 regarding their daughter.
