JOINT BASE ANDREWS - If you've ever driven around the Prince George's County area you may have seen scrambling F16s high overhead.
113th Wing Commander Brigadier General Jeffery Bozard says his team - the Capital Guardians - are ready around the clock to respond to an emergency if needed.
Bozard says his team practices each day to stay alert in case an unknown aircraft enters the D.C. SFRA, or special flight rules area.
He said the F16s at Joint Base Andrews can travel well above the sound barrier if needed.
"I live here. My family lives here. My friends live here and we're going to do everything in our power to never allow a 9/11 event happen again," he said.
