WASHINGTON - A busy start to 2025 continues in the Washington, D.C., region with the funeral of the 39th president, Jimmy Carter. With many official events surrounding the funeral, weather over the next few days will play a critical role for members of the public wishing to pay their respects to the former president, possibly spending time outdoors.
Jimmy Carter Funeral Forecast Conditions:
DC Tuesday evening forecast
Clear but very cold. Evening temperatures in the 20s, with overnight lows in the teens. Occasional gusts of wind from the northwest will result in wind chills in the low teens.
DC Wednesday daytime forecast
A cold morning gives way to a mostly sunny day. Temperatures remain about 15 degrees below average. Recent snow will melt slowly, causing icy conditions, especially on untreated sidewalks and streets. Highs struggle to reach 30°F, with northwest breezes at 10-15 mph.
DC Wednesday evening forecast
The cold weather continues. Clear skies and a solid snowpack will allow temperatures to drop once the sun sets. Overnight lows in the teens, with widespread temperatures near 15°F by early Thursday.
DC Thursday daytime forecast
Very cold temperatures prevail. After starting the day in the teens, highs will struggle to reach the upper 20s. Northwest winds will keep wind chills in the teens for most of the day.
DC Friday forecast
Increasing clouds with continued cold temperatures. Highs will peak in the low 30s. There is a chance of snow returning to the DC region by late Friday evening or early Saturday morning. It's too soon to predict possible accumulations.
