Hyattsville death investigation after man’s body found in apartment complex parking lot

Authorities in Hyattsville are investigating the death of a 39-year-old man whose body was found in an apartment complex parking lot.

HYATTSVILLE, Md. - Authorities in Hyattsville are investigating the death of a 39-year-old man whose body was found in an apartment complex parking lot.

Officials say the man's body was found Wednesday around 5:50 p.m. in the 2600 block of Kirkwood Place after officers responded to the area for a welfare check on that victim.

Investigators later identified the victim as Melvin Mayorga Hernandez of Hyattsville. Officers say Hernandez lived near that same area where his body was found.

Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Investigators are working to identify suspects and determine a motive for the killing.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and indictment in the case.
