Howard University students are living with mice during dorm renovations

Jasmine Adetunji says college life at Howard university is phenomenal.

Her living situation however, is a completely different story.

For weeks, Adetunji and several other students have been complaining about tube living conditions inside the Quad on 4th Street in Northwest.

The building has remained open despite some major renovations.

Students are saying the daily work is causing some unintended consequences.

“The floors aren’t level so it’s flooding everyday,” says Howard sophomore Lashae Woods. “My room wasn’t fully cleaned. I still have a wasp nest in my window and we don’t have AC or heat.”

The students say they are also living with mice.

A Twitter video shows some students attempting to catch a mouse with a garbage can.

“Seeing mouse in general in our regular hallway is not okay,” says Woods.

FOX 5 contacted Howard University about these issues.

They released a statement saying, “Howard University is working diligently to renovate our residence halls to improve the student experience. We ask our students to pardon our growing pains during this process. We are actively working the residents to address each issue they have raised. We are addressing these housing issues daily, making weekly inspections and meeting with our student residents to hear their concerns in order to continuously improve their on-campus living experience. All students are encouraged to report any housing concerns to their Resident Assistants for a timely response.”
