Roadway shut down after deadly crash involving a gravel truck

A roadway near Columbus was shut down after a fatal crash involving a gravel truck on Friday.

Howard County police have identified a driver who was killed, and a second driver who was critically injured in a crash involving a gravel truck in Columbia on Friday.

The gravel truck driver, 58-year-old Jerry Melvin Jones of Randallstown, died at the scene.

The other driver – 45-year-old Lashara Moore of Randallstown – was taken to a shock trauma unit, where she is listed in critical condition.

Route 29 has reopened since the crash.

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the crash.
