Herndon police officer involved in shooting while responding to armed robbery

A Herndon Police officer was involved in a shooting while responding to the report of an armed robbery Monday night. 

HERNDON, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - A Herndon Police officer was involved in a shooting while responding to the report of an armed robbery Monday night.

Police say the officer exchanged gunfire with one of two robbery suspects near the area of Locust/Spring at around 7:30 p.m. Then, the other suspect attempted to carjack a vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Both suspects are in custody and there is no threat to the community following the shooting, according to police.

An investigation at the scene is ongoing.
