Here’s what the Bombardier CRJ700’s cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder look like

National Transportation Safety Board investigators have released images that show the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder after it was recovered from the Bombardier CRJ700 plane involved in the deadly midair collision with an Army helicopter near Ronald Reagan National Airport Wednesday.

The images show the devices being transported and capture investigators evaluating and inspecting the instruments.

Officials are examining various factors, including the actions of the military pilot, as part of the investigation. Federal investigators noted on Thursday that air crash investigations can take months and refrained from speculating on the cause.
