Hazmat cleared in Rockville after 1000-gallon propane tank leaks when valve is sheared off

ROCKVILLE, Md. - No injuries were reported in Montgomery County after hazmat teams responded to a propane leak in Rockville. Authorities said a 1000-gallon propane tank began to leak when its valve was sheared off around 10 a.m. at Suburban Propane on Derwood Circle.

Rail traffic along a portion of Metro's Red Line between the Shady Grove and Twinbrook stations was suspended for several hours and passengers in these stations were evacuated. Some CSX tracks in the area were also closed to train traffic.

No injuries were reported and emergency crews resolved the situation just before 1 p.m. The incident is still under investigation.
