Virginia gym crimes

The backstory:

Fairfax County police say 49-year-old Robert Brockington targeted commercial gyms in Hybla Valley, Huntington, and Springfield between Dec. 1 and Dec. 16, breaking into lockers, stealing credit cards, and using them to make purchases.

Authorities say Brockington, who has been charged nearly 60 times for larceny in Virginia since 2012, was arrested in Washington, D.C. He remains in custody there, awaiting extradition to Northern Virginia.

FOX 5 obtained a prior arrest photo of Brockington from 2017 when he faced similar larceny charges.

While many of his past cases were later dropped, police believe he continued his pattern of theft.

Gym-goers at one of the affected locations expressed relief over the arrest, with some saying they feel safer knowing Brockington is off the streets.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact Fairfax County police.
