UPPER MARLBORO, Md. - Maryland State Police say several Good Samaritans rushed to the aide of a man who caused a crash in Upper Marlboro, saving him from a burning car.
A Buick and Mazda Miata collided after the 79-year-old driver of the Buick ran a red light at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Westphalia Road just before noon Monday, troopers said.

The crash sent the Buick bursting into flames. Several witnesses rushed to the car and carried the driver out before an explosion.
Trooper Kashef Khan arrived on the scene in two minutes, he said, while the witnesses were already carrying the driver to safety.
"I've seen people in Prince George's County help a lot and I'm really proud of those Good Samaritans," said Khan.
Both the Buick driver and the Mazda driver received serious but non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said.
The Buick driver, who troopers did not name, is expected to be cited for the crash. It is unclear why the driver ran the red light, according to troopers.
