Freezing rain, sleet causes accidents as early morning storm moves through area

A mix of sleet and freezing rain made for a messy commute Tuesday morning.

An accident involving several tractor-trailers caused major delays on northbound Interstate 95 between Route 216 and Route 32. The highway was closed for about an hour around 4 a.m. while emergency crews responded.

Police and emergency crews also responded to numerous accidents along secondary roads.

The freezing rain / sleet mix was moving east across the metro area during the morning hours. All precipitation should move through and out of the area by around 11 a.m.

A little sun is expected by the afternoon hours with temperatures in the mid-40s.

Another chance of snow is expected Thursday.
