FREDERICK, Md. - A man wanted on child sex abuse charges was shot by law enforcement officers at a motel in Frederick, officials say.
Authorities say the 45-year-old man was wanted on a felony warrant out of Beaver County, Pennsylvania for child sexual assault and abuse charges.

Deputies with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the city’s police department tracked down the man just before midnight Thursday at a Super 8 motel on Monocacy Boulevard.
A barricade situation unfolded after officers made contact with him, and he refused to leave his room. Officials say he told officers he was armed with a gun.
Frederick police shooting leaves person injured
Officials say the standoff ended when law enforcement shot the man around 12:50 a.m. Friday. The suspect was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore by helicopter where he remains in critical but stable condition.
Investigators say that a Frederick City Police Officer and a Frederick County Sheriff’s Deputy both discharged their firearms during the incident. Both have been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the completion of the investigation. Maryland State Police will handle the ongoing investigation.
No law enforcement or guests at the motel were injured during the incident.
