Cedric the Entertainer and Ice Cube sat down with FOX 5's Kevin McCarthy to talk about the new film, 'Barbershop: The Next Cut.'
The movie, in theaters now, is the third installment of the 'Barbershop' series.
Ice Cube told Kevin that he had kept his films from his son, O'Shea, until one day he found him watching and listening to his music. He said he took the opportunity to talk him and discuss his career.
"You know, you can't be fake with your kids. They know when you lying. They know when you are just telling them 'good parent' answers and not giving them the real," he said.
"Most of the time one of their dumb friends told them the real before they even come to tell you or talk to you about it. So they're looking for you to be real, and if you're not, you actually going to lose some ground with them."
"So the thing is, it's better for you to be the one to expose them to all the crazy stuff so you can explain it to them better than their friends who are going to mess their head up. So i just started to have that kind of relationship - and it works."
