The FBI investigation into the death of a man who was shot and killed by U.S. Park Police over a year ago is now over.
Congressman Don Beyer released a statement on Wednesday indicating that federal investigators have completed their probe of the Bijan Ghaisar shooting and that the case will now move to the Department of Justice.
According to a police report, Ghaisar, was shot on Nov. 17, 2017, in Fairfax County by two U.S. Park Police officers. The shooting was preceded by a brief chase police believe began after a fender-bender on the George Washington Parkway in Alexandria. Ghaisar died 10 days later.
In January 2018, Fairfax County Police and shows parts of the chase and shooting.
Congressman Beyer says the DOJ will have to determine whether to file civil or criminal charges against the officers who have still not been named.
