Bus slams into parking garage in Fairfax County

Firefighters were called to extinguish flames at a parking garage after a Fairfax Connector bus crash.

A Fairfax Connector bus burst into flames Tuesday after officials say the driver crashed into a parking garage.

Just after 7 p.m., Fairfax County Fire and Rescue crews arrived at the scene of the crash along Government Center Parkway to find the bus ablaze. For hours, firefighters worked to completely extinguish the fire, sparked by the electric bus.

The department said that one person was taken to a nearby hospital with "non-life-threatening" injuries.

Authorities are continuing to assess the situation, but there are no further details available at this time.
