Suspicious bus tries to pick up student in Reston
Expect to see more police officers around Fairfax County neighborhoods on Monday when kids are waiting at the bus stop. Police say a suspicious bus stopped and attempted to pick up a student in Reston, but a parent intervened. FOX 5's Adrienne DiPiazza reports from Fairfax county with the details.
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. - An investigation is underway after two suspicious buses attempted to pick up students at two Fairfax County bus stops on Thursday morning.
According to Fairfax County Police, the first incident happened around 7:44 a.m. at a bus stop in the area of Southington Lane in Reston.
Police say that a short white bus with a blue stripe tried to pick up a student at that stop, but after a community member tried to speak to the driver, he shut the door and drove off.
That driver is described as a white male with facial hair.

A Germantown family is demanding answers and an investigation after their 2-year-old was restrained in a chair at a day care.
The second incident happened about 10 minutes later, around 7:55 a.m., at a bus stop in the area of Chynoweth Street and Telegraph Road in Lorton.
According to police, an unmarked yellow school bus with black stripes tried to pick up a group of elementary school students.
The driver, described as a man of unknown race, with long curly brown hair wearing a dark hat, a surgical mask and dark clothing, was confronted by a community member and drove away.
Officers were notified about both buses later in the day. Fairfax County police say the driver of the yellow bus in Lorton has been identified. They say the vehicle is no longer considered suspicious and investigators confirmed it was in the area for another pick-up. Police do not suspect any criminal activity in that incident.
Video shows elderly couple being violently robbed in Montgomery County neighborhood
Police are searching for a suspect after surveillance video from a quiet neighborhood in the Gaithersburg area of Montgomery County shows an elderly couple being violently robbed in broad daylight.
The students involved in the incidents were unharmed.
Fairfax County Public Schools sent an alert to parents after police began investigating. They remind students and parents that the district will never send an unmarked bus to pick kids up. They also do not make bus schedules and pick-up times public in order to protect children.
