Dulles Town Center mall shooting suspect in custody, police say
WASHINGTON - Police responded to reports of a shooting at the Dulles Town Center Mall Sunday morning.
Police say that just before noon, two men got into a dispute. The shooter, a 32-year-old man, fired one shot at a 21-year-old man, hitting him in the abdomen, according to police.
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office confirmed to FOX 5 that the suspected shooter is in custody.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, according to police. He is in stable condition, according to the Fire and EMS Chief.
Ariel Huertas was heading in for work, heard the pop, then saw the rush of people trying to get out.
"We saw a bunch of people coming out too with us, and we saw like children, moms, dads screaming," said Huertas.
Police responded within minutes, quickly finding the victim. Three people were treated for minor injuries, but not transported, the Fire and EMS Chief says. Witnesses say that the shooter fired the shot, then dropped the gun, made a call while waiting for police to respond, then police found and arrested him.
Police say they have cleared the mall and set up a command post. Dulles Town Center is closed for the remainder of Sunday.
