Watch: Dolphins catch waves with California surfers, wowing onlookers
A group of California surfers caught the wave of a lifetime when a pod of dolphins joined them.
Video by Nick Liotta shows the dolphins majestically leaping in and out of the water alongside the surfers at Rincon Beach. People can be heard cheering them on as they filmed the spectacular moment.
"I was filming some friends surfing when a pod of dolphins showed up and rode the waves with them," Liotta told Storyful.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, "dolphins have a reputation for being friendly, but they are actually wild animals who should be treated with caution and respect."

"Interactions with people change dolphin behavior for the worse. They lose their natural wariness, which makes them easy targets for vandalism and shark attack," NOAA says on its Fisheries website. "For the dolphins' sake, and for your safety, please don't feed, swim with, or harass wild dolphins."
