Death investigation underway in Woodbridge after man found unconscious in roadway: police

WOODBRIDGE, Va. - Woodbridge police are investigating after a man was found in a roadway just days after Christmas and was later pronounced dead.

According to investigators, the man was discovered at the intersection of Dale Boulevard and the I-95 northbound ramp in Woodbridge on Dec. 28 at 1:18 a.m., unconscious. 

A passing motorist saw the man in the roadway and contacted emergency services. 

Police have identified the man as 27-year-old Tarone Lamont Bland. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died. 

Right now, police say they do not know if the man was struck by a vehicle or if his injuries were sustained in a separate incident. 

The cause of death has not yet been determined. The Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy.
