A series of deadly shootings on Monday has pushed the 2018 homicide total in D.C. above the 2017 year-end mark.

Police say three people were killed on Monday beginning in the afternoon when a man was shot and killed on the 2500 block of Bowen Road in the southeast.

Officers say a second homicide was reported Monday around 7:30 p.m. when a man was shot and killed in the 1800 block of Benning Road in the northeast. Just before 10 p.m. Monday, police say a third homicide was reported after a man was shot and killed on 14th and Downing Place.

Monday's homicides follow a deadly weekend that left six killed from gun violence.

An additional homicide on Tuesday morning pushed the 2018 count even higher. Investigators say a man was shot and killed on Eastern Avenue near Rittenhouse Street near a gas station increasing the total to 119. Police say 116 homicides were reported in all of 2017.
